Planning Your Visit
The Wayside Inn Historic Site can accommodate touring groups of all sizes, however any group larger than 8 persons should call ahead to avoid conflicts with the restaurant. The majority of our site is self-guided, with a brief touring brochure available at the Inn building. While at the Inn, you'll also find three museum room displays, each featuring objects and information about colonial life in a rural farming community. You'll also find exhibit cases with artifacts pertaining to the family who ran this house as a colonial inn and tavern for almost 145 years.
The Redstone Schoolhouse and Wayside Inn Grist Mill are both staffed by trained interpreters, offering unique perspectives on historic milling operations and grain production, as well as the educational experiences found in typical one-room schoolhouses of the period.
The Grist Mill is open to the public from April to November. Hours of operation: Wednesday through Sunday 9am to 5pm. The stones are run Saturdays and Sundays at 1pm and 4pm.
